Graphic Organizer (GO)

Purpose: The graphic organizer is designed to be a visual tool to help you:

1. organize your information to help prepare for writing the draft of your paper

2. evaluate which areas of the topic are the most important to support your thesis

So, use visual tools to organize your work. Consider using images/shapes, lines/arrows, font:
size-- color-- style --placement on the page
Guidelines:
1. Write your thesis on your graphic organizer (GO).
2. Read through your notes and identify the main categories of supporting evidence. These become your subtopics.
3. Write the key word(s) for each category on your graphic organizer.
4. Determine which categories are the most important for supporting your thesis, and use visual tools on your graphic organizer to represent the order information will appear in your paper.
5. Include notes/sources/information/points to make on the GO to show yourself that you have the necessary research and support to make that argument on each topic.
6. HINT: The more detailed and specific you can be with your material at this stage, the more easily it transforms into a written paper next week.
7. Make whatever changes to the generic format of your selected GO so it fits with YOUR information and needs for your paper.
This step is due on your wiki by 3:00 pm on Friday, February 15.
